The KS107BD(L) phantom,KS107BDL Ultrasound Phantom is applicable to the performance testing or quality assurance of the ultrasound instrumentwith operatingfrequency between 1-5MHz.

A clinical diagnose is usually made based on the ultrasonic scanning information, whichis revealed mainly fromthe ultrasonography.Thus the ultrasonic image quality of the B-mode ultrasound instrumentis regarded as an important factor for judging the validity of the ultrasonograpic diagnosis. Followingthe international conventions,thetechnical indicatorsto assess B -mode ultrasonic image quality (i.e., performance) include dead zone, depth of penetration, axial resolution, horizontalresolution, beam slice thickness, contrast resolution and caliper accuracy, etc. The only way to assess those factor for B-mode ultrasonic instrumentis Tissue Mimicking(TM)Ultrasound Phantom. Ultrasound Phantomis a test object containing Tissue Mimicking (TM) material that simulates the acoustic and physical properties of human tissue.A series of test targets were embedded in the TM material for testingand imaging purpose. Anacoustic windowwas place at the surface of the TM material for simulation of the skin of epithelialtissue. Our products, the Model KS107BD(L),wasdeveloped to provide a reliable tool for quality control checks on most ultrasound diagnosis system.They followed the requirementsof ChineseNational Standards GB10152-2009 and the national metrology verification regulationJJG639-98(2005).

EXTRENAL STRUCTURE of KS107BDL Phantom

The material of the phantom housing ispolymethyl methacrylate(PMMA). The housing is fabricated andprocessed to be a tightly sealed chamber. Twocircular holesat the bottom of the housing is patched with 1 mm thick rubberreserving for maintenance liquid injection. Thetarget map and instructions are pasted at the surface of the phantom housing. The topsurface of the phantom was sealed with60 microns thick polyester film asan acousticwindow. A10 mm deep PMMA enclosureis pasted all around the acoustic window film for the reservation of water of other coupling material. A 3mmthick cover board could be placed on the acoustic window film for the protection purpose when not in use.

The distances between the Lateral branchesof the groups and the acoustic

window are30,50,70,120 and 160mmrespectively.GroupA1─A2 has the adjacent targetshorizontalinterval1, 5, 4, 3,2mmfrom left to right sequence.GroupA3─A5 are 5, 4, 3,2mm. The vertical branch target string has the adjacent target verticalinterval 4, 3, 2, 1mmfrom up to down sequence.

E:Hyperechoic (tumor-like) target 

Hyperechoic, is located between 70-80 mm in depth, with a 10 mm diameter cylindricalshape.The cylinderaxis is parallel to the target string.

F:Anechoic (cyst-like)and stones-like Target

Cyst-like cylindrical shapetarget, is located between 70-80 mm in depth,
with 10 mm in diameterof the cylinder.The axial is parallel to the target
string. Stonesmimicking target islocated in the centerof the cysttarget with
irregular shape, among which the maximum size is of about 4 ─ 6 mm.

G:Anechoic (cyst-like) Target

Anechoic (cyst-like) target, is located between 47-53mm in depth, with a 
6mm diameter cylindricalshape. The cylinderaxis is parallel to the target 
string.
