The ultrasound phantom KS107BG is applicable to the performance testing and quality assurance of the ultrasound instrument with operating frequency between 5MHz-10MHz.
A clinical diagnose is usually made based on the ultrasonic scanning information, which is revealed mainly from the ultrasonography. Thus the ultrasonic image quality of the B-mode ultrasound instrument is regarded as an important factor for judging the validity of the ultrasonograpic diagnosis. Following the international conventions, the technical indicators to assess B -mode ultrasonic image quality (i.e., performance) include dead zone, depth of penetration, axial resolution, horizontal resolution, beam slice thickness, contrast resolution and caliper accuracy, etc. The only way to assess those factor for B-mode ultrasonic instrument is Tissue Mimicking(TM) Ultrasound Phantom. Ultrasound Phantom is a test object containing Tissue Mimicking (TM) material that simulates the acoustic and physical properties of human tissue. A series of test targets were embedded in the TM material for testing and imaging purpose. An acoustic window was place at the surface of the TM material for simulation of the skin of epithelial tissue. Our products, the Model KS107BD/G, was developed to provide a reliable tool for quality control checks on most ultrasound diagnosis system. They followed the requirements of Chinese National Standards GB10152-2009 and the national metrology verification regulation JJG639-98(2005).
Main Parameter
(1) TM material speed of sound: 1540±10m/s (23±3℃).
(2) TM material slope of the attenuation coefficient: 0.70±0.05dB/cm/MHz (23±3℃).
(3) Target string material: Nylon monofilament.
(4) Nylon string diameter:0.3±0.05mm.
(5) Target position tolerance:±0.1mm.
Nylon Target String System
The Nylon target strings are buried in TM material. The map of the 14 target groups is shown in Figure 2.

NOTE: Each letter or letter seires with subscript represent a group of target string.
The detail introduction of 14target groups isas following:
1.A1-A4: Axial Resolution Target String Group,
The top strings of each target group are at the depth of 10mm, 30mm, 50mm, 70mm.
The vertical distances between adjacent strings in each target group are 3mm, 2mm,
1mm, 0.5mm respectively. The horizontal distances between adjacent are 1mm.
2.B1-B4: Lateral Resolution Target String Group,
The depth of this target string are at 10mm, 30mm, 50mm, 70mm for B1-B4group
respectively. The horizontal distance of adjacent strings in each group are 4mm,
3mm, 2mm, 1mm respectively.
3.C: Dead Zone Target Group,
The adjacent target string lateral intervals are 10mm. The distance of the target
strings to the acoustic window are 4mm, 3mm, 2mmrespectively.
4.D: Vertical Distance Target Group,
This target group includes 12strings, with theadjacent string interval is 10mm.
5.E: Horizontal Distance Target Group,
This target group includes 6strings, withadjacent string interval are 20mm.
6.F1-F3: Anechoic (Cyst-like target, diameter: 2 mm, 4mm, 6mm) Target Group,
Cyst-like cylindrical shape target, is imbedded in the TM material with diameter of
2mm, 4mm, 6mm.Theiraxials areparallel to the target string, with location at the
depth of 15mm, 30mm, 45mm.
